It doesnt matter if Gaile didnt think it would be a good idea or not. She was never a programmer or a dev. She just gave her own opinion, which was that it would be too hard and too much hassle. But her opinion in my mind is still wrong. Her arguments about it creating more trouble for support with locked characters do not outweigh the fact that most of us would rather have locked characters than deleted ones.

Even if people were posting to support about people hacking their accounts and locking their chars it would be better than having support posts complaining about deleted characters.

I love the idea and am totally /signed for it. After seeing a bunch of guildies getting hacked and all their chars deleted and such (one guildie was hacked 3 times O.o) that I think this is a perfect way to prevent hackers from totally wiping out all the work someone put in to GW. As for implementing it...let's wait till april and hope for the best.

Those weren't the specifics I had in mind - I had her exact words in mind when I made that post.

What I couldn't remember the specifics of was of things that have changed post-Gaile that Gaile said would never change. I still don't, but I do distinctly remember thinking a couple of times when a update came through or a planned update was announced something along the lines of "But didn't Gaile say that would never happen?"

I think this is stressing too much on account security. First of, your account should stay pretty much secure if you don't go telling your password to every Tom, Dick, and Harry you see. Suppose you lock your character, but then decide to change your mind. What would happen then? I respect you for your idea of helping secure characters/accounts, but honestly, ANET is going to have their inbox filled up with more complaints on unlocking characters than they do so on the deletion of them.
